Reclaiming Our Voices Restoring Our Humanity Rising Together
In a world where mainstream mental health systems often overlook somatic work, creativity, and community, we support racially marginalised and LGBTQIA+ communities to heal through embodiment, express through art, and reconnect through collective care: transforming isolation into belonging and trauma into strength.
About our School
The School of Human Connection is a trauma-informed, somatic and creative wellbeing movement dedicated to restoring connection, belonging, and empowerment for racially marginalised and LGBTQIA+ communities.
We exist to address the gap left by mainstream mental health systems by offering body-based, culturally attuned, and community-centred approaches to healing.
Through somatic practice, creative expression, and collective care, we support individuals, families, and communities to heal through the body, reclaim their voice, and rebuild meaningful connection with themselves and others, transforming isolation into belonging and trauma into collective strength: contributing to healthier, more resilient individuals and communities.
Our Vision
We envision a world where racially marginalised and LGBTQIA+ people feel safe in their bodies, free in their expression, and deeply connected: reclaiming their voice, power, and place in community and society.
Our Mission
Our mission is to increase access to trauma-informed, somatic and creative wellbeing for racially marginalised and LGBTQIA+ people, addressing the gaps left by traditional support systems and strengthening community connection
Our Values
-
We create spaces where everyone, especially those historically marginalised or silenced, feels seen, safe, and celebrated. We honour every identity, body, and story, building environments where difference becomes connection and diversity becomes strength.
-
Healing begins in the body. Our work reconnects individuals with their physical, emotional, and intuitive selves through somatic, movement-based, and creative practices.
We nurture presence as a path to self-awareness, regulation, and transformation. -
We believe in the power of community to heal and rise together. Our programmes nurture mutual support, co-creation, and shared leadership: transforming isolation into belonging and pain into purpose. We rise by lifting one another.
-
We uphold care, ethics, and transparency in all we do. Our practitioners are trained in trauma-informed facilitation and work with sensitivity, consent, and respect. Integrity for us means holding safe containers where authenticity, boundaries, and compassion coexist.
-
At the heart of our mission is a longing to reconnect what has been divided: mind and body, self and other, individual and community.
Our Programmes
-

Somatic immersions & workshops
We deliver trauma-informed, somatic and creative programmes through in-person and online workshops that support emotional regulation, self-expression, and connection. Our work combines practices such as conscious movement, sound healing, biodance, breathwork, Tai chi & chi gong, creative exploration, and facilitated community spaces grounded in consent and cultural sensitivity. We also offer relational and family-focused sessions that strengthen communication, empathy, and emotional literacy, supporting healthier relationships and more connected communities.
-

Facilitation & Leadership Trainings
We train participants, particularly those with lived experience of trauma, to develop facilitation, communication, and relational skills, empowering them to confidently hold space for others and guide others on their healing journeys.
-

1:1 embodied therapy sessions
These trauma-informed sessions provide personalized support for individuals needing deeper emotional or somatic care beyond the group setting, helping participants build self-awareness, safety and emotional resilience.
-

Cross-Sector Partnerships & Clinical Collaboration
We partner with Western-based specialists such as psychiatrists, psychologists, and mental health practitioners to complement clinical approaches, contribute to reflective practice, and support research and learning around trauma-informed and somatic wellbeing. These partnerships help bridge embodied, creative healing with established mental health frameworks and strengthen recognition of somatic wisdom as an essential component of wellbeing.
-

Advocacy, Research & Knowledge-Sharing
We document learning, gather participant insight, and collaborate with partners to advocate for trauma-informed, body-based approaches as essential to mental health, wellbeing, and community resilience.
Our Theory of Change
Our Unique Approach
-
We Prioritise Healing Through the Body
Traditional mental health systems often overlook trauma’s impact on the body. Our approach recognises that trauma is not only cognitive but deeply somatic. We offer regulating movement practices, breathwork, sound healing, embodiment, and creative expression, helping participants rediscover safety, presence, and vitality in their own bodies.
-
We Complement & Deepen Existing Support Models
We don’t aim to replace; we aim to enrich.
Our programmes integrate seamlessly into existing frameworks, offering flexible formats: from one-day workshops, six-month immersions to one-to-one sessions. We co-create with partner organisations to meet the specific needs of their communities -
We Prioritise the Most Marginalised
Our work intentionally centres racially marginalised LGBTQIA+ people who are often excluded from traditional wellbeing and mental health services, specifically individuals who have experienced systemic discrimination. We work through an intersectional, trauma-informed approach understanding how different identities and systemic barriers shape people’s lives.
-
We Bring an Intercultural Team with Lived Experience
Our team is not only professionally trained, many carry lived or community-rooted experience of migration, marginalisation, and healing. This makes our work authentic, attuned, and compassionate.
-
Inclusive of All Genders and Identities
Our spaces are open to everyone, men, women, trans, and non-binary people, recognising that healing transcends gender. We offer both mixed and identity-specific spaces when needed, ensuring that everyone can access care safely and authentically.
Partner with Us
We are currently partnering with charities and community organisations across the UK to bring somatic, creative, and trauma-informed wellbeing programmes to underserved communities.
If your organisation supports racially marginalised or LGBTQ+ individuals, we’d love to collaborate.
